Employment

Every summer the Ojibway Club employs about 50 people, ages 15 and up. Facilities Operations positions include Food & Beverage, Retail, administration, maintenance and Housekeeping. Some positions, like the maintenance staff, begin in May and work through September. Camp Counsellors start one week before Camp opens and finish on the last day of camp.

Suitably qualified children of active members are given priority status in the application process. All 2023 staff must reapply for 2024.

All positions require flexible schedules as shifts include both weekends and evenings. Full-time positions require a commitment of availability from late June to early September inclusive.

 

CAMP

We plan to run camp in 2024 for 8 weeks, from July 1st to August 23rd. We are looking for energetic staff to fill all positions, including camp counsellors, and CITs (counsellor in training). If hired, you are required to participate in a mandatory pre-camp training session - dates to be confirmed.

Sports Administrator Job Description 

The new position of “Sports Administrator” has been created to support and enhance athletic participation at the Ojibway Club. In this role you will be maintaining the office administrative aspects of the Club's sports and wellness activities. A primary focus will be on the smooth operations of the Ojibway Racquets section. Working from the Racquet Centre (aka tennis hut), you will greet and provide information to Racquets members and guests, manage court bookings and assist to maintain the cleanliness of the courts and wellness venues such as the movie hut when used for yoga. The Sports Administrator will be the point of contact for attendance tracking, be involved in sports communications updates to members and accountable for appropriate charges to members accounts. It may include a retail component to sell balls, racquets and other wares from the racquet hut. This position is a great opportunity to hone your skills in communications, administration and business management. The Sports Administrator will be a friendly, organized and self-motivated individual who enjoys working with our members and guests.

Sailing Pro Waterfront Manager Job Description

The Ojibway Club has added a Sailing Professional Waterfront Manager as a new senior role on staff reporting to the GM. The creation of this role will intentionally help build sailing as a new section of athletics offered for all members at the Club. New programs will be created for the 2024 season and taught by the Sailing Pro who will provide expertise and coaching for a safe and enjoyable environment to learn. The new programs will be for members of all ages and will require working evenings and weekends. This individual will be able to certify all levels of the CanSail framework. Some programs offered will work on more advanced sailing or beginning racing skills. The Sailing Pro will work cooperatively with the Ojibway Camp Head of Sailing to help more campers gain CanSail certifications and advanced skills. This position will have oversight for the entire waterfront ensuring the safety and maintenance of the fleet of sailboats, canoes and kayaks. Members will be able to sign-out boats for recreational use on the weekends and the Sailing Pro will facilitate launch, rigging and derigging for ease of use. They will endeavor to build enthusiasm for sailing and advance sailing skills within the camp, club and community.  This is a full-time position. New programs being developed will require work in the evenings and weekends and during 5 weeks midsummer the work schedule will be spread over 6 days.

CIT

Please note that all applicants for our counsellor in training (CIT) must be 15 years of age by July 1, 2024.

The online application form must be filled out by the person applying for the position.

Note: There is a $75 registration fee for all successful CIT candidates. This fee supports the position of CIT Head, who ensures that the leadership skills and work experience gained from being a CIT is valuable.

INTERNSHIP

The Intern Program is intended to provide 14-to-16-year-old children of Ojibway Club members with the opportunity to experience a real-world working environment that will familiarize them with Club operations and provide practical training that will be useful for future employment.

This is a great opportunity to earn community service hours and build your resume!

Intern roles include 1 or 2-week assignments in one of 6 areas: Housekeeping, Kitchen, Grocery, Gift Shop, Office, or Snack Bar. The assignment will be in one department per week from 9:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
